Dainaoshi kanna (ๅฐ็›ดใ—้‰‹)

The dainaoshi kanna has one function, and that is tuning or conditioning the sole (shitaba) of Japanese kanna (naoshi is from the verb naosu - to correct, fix, or mend).

The plane itself is a very simple design, and very easy to use. It consists of a blade, with no chip-breaker, set in a
dai at 90°, or in some cases 100°.

The plane is used by scraping perpendicular to the grain on the sole of the plane being conditioned to increase or correct the concave areas between the touch-points. Only light downward pressure should be applied to the plane when scraping.
